If you missed it: The Cleveland Browns signed another quarterback.
Yes, the Browns, the team with four QBs already competing for their starting job.
Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders apparently weren’t enough.
Late Monday, the Browns signed Tyler Huntley.
The Athletic’s Zac Jackson was flabbergasted by the move. The Browns beat writer summed it up on X like this:
“This is unbelievable for many reasons, most of all that all four were involved in practice today on some level.”
That was in response to ESPN’s Adam Schefter posting the news with a bunch of injuries listed for the Browns’ QBs. Yes, they’re dinged up, but as Jackson alludes to, none are out for an extended period.
It makes the Huntley signing quite curious.

Is he coming in to replace someone? Have the Browns decided to cut one of the quarterbacks, or trade one of the quarterbacks?
Have they all looked so uninspiring that Cleveland wants to see if Huntley can win the job instead?
It’s not that Huntley is a bad quarterback. He’s been a passable injury fill-in at multiple stops in his NFL career.
But Cleveland has already pitched its horses to four different quarterback wagons in the hope that one will actually cross the finish line.

There genuinely isn’t room for a fifth. The Browns already didn’t have enough receivers in training camp to get their quartet enough work.
It seems there must be a move coming, or someone must be more hurt than is being let on.
As Jackson wrote, this is “unbelievable.” But really, it’s the Browns, so believe it.
