The reason it isn’t crazy to draft Shedeur Sanders in fantasy football last round in Browns’ QB competition

You’ve already scoffed, but hear us out for a minute.

We’re not telling you that you should draft Shedeur Sanders in your fantasy football draft. We’re just saying, when all your leaguemates look at you like you’re crazy, you’ve actually got a tiny bit of justifcation.

Sure, maybe this is just an overreaction to Shedeur’s NFL preseason debut on Friday night when he showed off pinpoint accuracy and strong elusiveness while throwing a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions or sacks.

But the former Colorado star proved he has NFL talent. Maybe his slide to the fifth round of the NFL Draft was a bit too dramatic.

Now stick with us for the fantasy logic.

One, you’re rarely making or breaking your draft in the final round.

Two, Shedeur will certainly be available at that point in all but the absolute deepest of leagues.

And three, if he wins the starting job, there will be a lot of passes to throw.

The Browns stink. They’ll be behind in almost every one of their games.

Jameis Winston showed last year that a Cleveland QB can put up monster numbers in deficits throwing to the likes of Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman.

If things broke just right, so could Shedeur.

The reality is you don’t need to draft him. He’ll hang out on the waiver wire, and if he ever becomes the starter, he’ll be a slightly trendy pickup just for name value.

But he can have real fantasy value in Kevin Stefanski’s offense on a team that’s behind a lot.

In a superflex or 2-QB league where every team ends up with three or more passers on their roster, maybe it’s worth a shot. He’s easy enough to drop if he doesn’t get the starting job, but if Sanders somehow comes away with the gig, he can put up numbers.
