The list of Kings trade/free agent targets is much less exciting than you may think

The Sacramento Kings are in need of a new point guard. Some Kings trade rumors have the team swinging big for a star guard, but this may not be realistic. Some may think that after making some huge trades during last season, the Kings’ general manager, Scott Perry, may be looking to make some less flashy moves to bring stability to the point guard position in Sacramento. This updated Sacramento Kings news might not excite many fans, but it could be the right move for an organization that needs to figure out its future.

The recent Sacramento Kings news from Jake Fischer of The Stein Line says that the Kings are locked in on finding a point guard, but maybe not a star one.

“New general manager Scott Perry, remember, immediately highlighted the Kings’ need for improved playmaking during his introductory press conference, and sources have duly linked Sacramento to various guards known to be available this summer. That list includes Holiday in Boston and Marcus Smart in Washington … and stretches to more affordable free agent ballhandlers like Malcolm Brogdon.”

With lots of Kings trade proposals bringing in players like Trae Young, Darius Garland, and Jordan Poole, this list is certainly less exciting.

That being said, the Kings need to figure out what their future looks like without De’Aaron Fox. Are they going to rebuild around Sabonis and LaVine? Or are they going to look to make more trades and start a rebuild?

By hitting a single instead of a home run at point guard this offseason, the Kings may be able to have more flexibility for the future.
