Texans DL calls out Patrick Mahomes ahead of matchup with Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes II may be a three-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time MVP, but one Houston Texans defender feels confident about this week’s matchup.

Texans defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. expressed his confidence about what his position group can do against Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs when they battle on Saturday.

“Their o-line definitely has their struggles, and I feel like we can take advantage of that,” Settle told reporters on Tuesday.

Mahomes enters Saturday’s contest with a questionable designation. The future Hall of Fame quarterback suffered an ankle injury in last week’s win against the Cleveland Browns.

Mahomes seems to be progressing well, though, as he has been a full participant in practice for the Chiefs in their last two days of practice.

Still, Settle believes that he and his fellow defenders will apply significant pressure to the veteran signal caller.

“I hope he’s mobile enough because we’re coming in Arrowhead (Stadium),” Settle said. “Pat better make a good decision. I ain’t making no threats; I’m making promises.”

Mahomes has played against the Texans three times in his career. Houston got the better of Mahomes in 2019, but the Chiefs have won the last two meetings between the teams.

Saturday’s game between Houston and Kansas City begins at 1 p.m. ET.
