Hometown hero Terri Harper makes an emotional return to Doncaster for the first defence of her WBO lightweight title against Natalie Zimmerman on Friday.
Harper (15-2-2, 6 KOs) became a three-weight champion last time out when she defeated Rhiannon Dixon on points, having also ruled at super featherweight and super welterweight in a division-surfing career.
Zimmerman (13-0, 3 KOs) puts her undefeated record on the line for a shot at glory at the Keepmoat Stadium. the home of English soccer team Doncaster Rovers.
There’s the prospect of another huge night if Harper can come through this one, with reigning WBC champion Caroline Dubois having engaged in a simmering war of words with her compatriot.

“I don’t know what it is with Caroline Dubois or what her problem is, but I honestly can’t wait to get paid to get in that girl’s face,” Harper said. “First, I’ve got to get past Natalie Zimmerman here on Friday night. Then, if she wants it next, she can have it.”
