Crawford wasted little time asserting himself against Alvarez. In fact, while traipsing down the walkway prior to his confrontation with Alvarez, he laid his bravado bare.

Crawford waltzed to the ring accompanied not by an English soundtrack, but rather by the stylings of one of Mexico’s greatest exports: mariachi. Check it out for yourself:

Crawford’s gallant entry into the ring looked to be a clear nod to Alvarez’s Mexican roots. The track used also sounded eerily similar to the walk-up song UFC welterweight champion Ilia Topuria uses before his fights. The two have shared a high-profile war of words in recent weeks.

An Omaha, Nebraska, native, it’s not an impossibility that Crawford came into mariachi at some point in his life. It’s an incredibly popular genre of music after all. Nevertheless, the likelier suggestion appears to be that the unbeaten fighter was trying to score some flavor points over his Mexican rival.
