The NFL offseason media cycle has revolved around Shedeur Sanders’ driving habits and everything Aaron Rodgers, which has allowed the prolonged Terry McLaurin contract dispute to fly under the radar.
The All-Pro wideout is allegedly unhappy with the direction of his extension with the Washington Commanders, opening the door for a team to swoop in ready to acquire the 29-year-old and give him a lucrative new contract.
Teams in desperate need of elite pass catchers, like the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and Los Angeles Chargers, have been frequently linked with the star receiver, but a player of his caliber could command an extensive market.
One analyst is pitching McLaurin as a fun piece to join a team on the rise, whose young quarterback could use a WR1.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay floated the idea of the Tennessee Titans trying to land “Scary Terry” to pair up with rookie gunslinger Cam Ward.
“Ward’s current crop of receivers lacks proven options in their prime,” Kay wrote. “Even incumbent No. 1 WR Calvin Ridley, who put up 1,017 receiving yards in his first Titans season, is on the wrong side of 30 and accumulated a relatively meager 64 receptions in 2024. Adding a veteran presence like McLaurin into this receiver’s room—which also features a pair of fourth-round rookies in Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike—could be what Ward needs for a successful NFL debut.”
Tossing Ridley in the slot and having McLaurin and Ayomanor on the boundary could help give Ward an elite support system out of the gate that many rookie signal-callers dream of.
If Tennessee is serious about trying to compete next season for an AFC South crown, snagging McLaurin would dramatically improve their potential fortunes.
