Cam Ward is the only rookie quarterback currently slated to start the season under center, making the Tennessee Titans one of the most fascinating teams to follow this summer.
But how impactful can 2025’s first-overall draft pick be in his rookie campaign?
The 23-year-old has plenty of raw traits, but was the top name off the board based on one year of elite production in a weak class.
One media analyst isn’t concerned about Ward’s transition to the pros at all and suggested he is already in rarified air.
During a digital exclusive for Bleacher Report, creator Mitch Milani proclaimed that Ward is already good enough to hoist the Lombardi trophy.
“Ward, the most underdiscussed, least talked about, first overall pick in probably the entire century,” Milani said. “Cam Ward can win a Super Bowl. He has the makings of a top-end NFL quarterback. He has the work ethic, the aura, and the leadership to be able to lead a franchise to success.”
Milani prefaced his take by indicating it won’t happen soon, but he has the tools to win a ring.
The idea that Ward is underdiscussed is comical because it’s July. What is there to talk about? He’s not even the most disrespected top pick of the last half-decade. How many diehard football fans can even identify Travon Walker?
This might be hard to fathom, but aura and work ethic don’t raise banners.
Ward’s arm talent is undeniable, but he holds onto the ball far too long on occasion and has had plenty of disastrous turnovers with the Hurricanes. He’s still a project.
There’s a better chance Ward is benched at the end of his first contract than raising a championship banner.
