This is the time of year when unheralded players have to make plays to have a shot at making an NFL roster.
Jackson Meeks took that message to heart.
The former Syracuse wide receiver is now with the Detroit Lions in the preseason, and he had a huge night Friday against the Falcons.
Meeks caught three passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. That included a 68-yarder.

The long catch was just a matter of Meeks beating the defense down the field and running under a nice toss from Kyle Allen:

The short touchdown was all about leverage, as Meeks created space on a quick out route for the TD:

Meeks actually began his college career at Georgia, where he was a two-time national champion.
He only came to Syracuse in 2024 to come along for the ride with new head coach Fran Brown.
It was a worthwhile move, as he went for 78 catches, 1,021 yards and seven TDs.
Now, Meeks is trying to show in another new home that he belongs again. So far, he’s done everything he can to prove that point.
