The Milwaukee Bucks have yet to make Giannis Antetokounmpo available, but many in the media are pondering the idea of him leaving the Bucks.
Whether it happens eventually remains to be seen, but Antetokounmpo has stayed loyal, and so have Bucks fans.
The trade rumors have continued to run rampant, and according to a recent report from the Detroit Free Press, there might be a surprise team interested in attempting to make a blockbuster deal for him: the Detroit Pistons.
“The Pistons could opt to surprise and use their flexibility to become a major player and take advantage of the downtrodden East. Langdon and vice presidents Dennis Lindsey and Michael Blackstone could at least engage with the Celtics on Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, the Bucks with Antetokounmpo and the Utah Jazz on Lauri Markkanen, among others,” Marlowe Alter wrote.
The Pistons might be one of the teams that make sense for Antetokounmpo, at least on paper.

If the Bucks were to ever trade him, they’d need to acquire as much young talent and picks as possible.
There aren’t realistically many teams that could offer that, which is part of the reason why suggesting that he’ll get traded doesn’t hold much weight at the moment.
While it makes sense to give somebody like Antetokounmpo a chance if the Pistons could acquire him, it’s essential to remember that the Bucks would likely take all of their assets.
If things don’t go right for Detroit, it could find itself in a position it doesn’t want to be in for the next decade or more.
After finally turning things around, the Pistons might be better off playing it safe and hoping to develop talent in-house.
