Suns predicted to make head-scratching deal for 76ers’ $211 million All-Star this offseason

The Philadelphia 76ers signed superstar Paul George to a $211 million contract this offseason, expecting to get the best from him, but so far this season he’s been a total bust. Now, he might not be a Sixer for much longer.

According to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, the Phoenix Suns might be a top trade destination for George, and are willing to give up a lot for him, with the top idea being Bradley Beal, who he thinks the Sixers are also interested in.

“Another potential option could include taking on Paul George’s larger deal for Bradley Beal, assuming Beal is willing to go (his no-trade clause holds significant power),” Pincus wrote.

This deal, while a head-scratcher, does make some sense. George’s contract is less money than Beal’s, and they practically had the same stats this season. George was averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, and Beal is averaging 17.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Like Pincus said though, this trade is dependent on if Beal wants to go to Philly. His no-trade clause holds a ton of weight, so this trade could just evaporate with a simple “no” from Beal.

However, Beal would have an elevated role with the Sixers. Even though he would once again be the third option, since Joel Embiid is so injury prone, Beal would see the ball in his hands a whole lot more.

If the Sixers and the Suns can get a deal in motion and Beal is good with it, they should get to it. The Suns need a change, and the Sixers do as well too. This flip might cure both sides’ problems.
