Struggling star fires battling Bayern Munich future pledge despite exit links

Bayern Munich haven’t had much success with their recent signings apart from Michael Olise, who has made an instant impact.

In the last few seasons, they have made a few signings, but most of them have failed to cement their place in the starting XI, while others have left the club.

One such player is Joao Palhinha, who joined Bayern in 2024, and while people had a lot of expectations from the Portuguese, he flattered to deceive in his debut season in the Bundesliga.

His performances last season weren’t noteworthy, and there are already rumours of Bayern looking to cut their losses and sell Palhinha this summer.

However, the 30-year-old, in an interaction with Sport TV Portugal, shared his desire to continue at Bayern despite exit rumours.

“I have a contract with Bayern for another three years, so I’ll report back on the 29th, which is when we start pre-season. Enjoying these vacation days with family and friends is the most important thing right now,” Palhinha said.

“Regarding my future, as I’ve said several times, I have three more years on my contract, I don’t know what will happen, but I’m at a great club, as I’ve always said.”

“Obviously, it hasn’t been an easy year for me, but I’m also very motivated to – as soon as the season starts – prove my worth once again, at a very special club like Bayern, a huge club”

Which clubs are interested in Palhinha?

Palhinha had a great stint with Fulham in the Premier League, and therefore, Thomas Tuchel wanted him at Bayern.

Following his first season in Bavaria, there are many Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham, who are interested in the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder.

Apart from the North London clubs, his former employer, Fulham, reportedly want him back on loan with an obligation to buy.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan and Juventus are the other teams also exploring his situation in Germany.

There are also clubs in Spain and Turkey that are interested in the Portuguese midfielder.

Palhinha featured in only 25 games for Bayern Munich last season across competitions, and if he stays in Bavaria, then surely he will play many more games.

He has shown his mettle for Fulham and also for Portugal in the last few years, and he could be a vital cog in Vincent Kompany’s system in the middle of the park.
