Stephen Curry, Warriors reportedly favorites to land Celtics champion

It’s all but certain that Al Horford will be departing from the Boston Celtics after Brad Stevens’ recent comments.

It’s unfortunate how everything has unfolded over the past few weeks for Horford, but it’s tough to blame the veteran. At the end of the day, he wants an opportunity to win another championship, and because of Jayson Tatum’s injury, he likely doesn’t have that in Boston.

Horford won a title with the Celtics and will be remembered forever in the city. Fans love him, and he loves them back.

But as he looks to move on once again, he’ll have to hope that things go much better this time around. After Horford departed the first time, he had some struggles as a player, both on and off the court.

According to a recent report from Evan Sidery, the Golden State Warriors are the current favorites to land the veteran.

He noted that the Denver Nuggets could be in play, but the expectation now is for Jonas Valanciunas to join the team after reports of him potentially playing overseas next year.

“Al Horford will be making his decision between the Nuggets and Warriors on his next team. If Jonas Valanciunas is intent on leaving for Europe, Horford becomes an extremely enticing option for Denver. Currently, Golden State is viewed as the favorite for Horford’s services,” he wrote.

Horford joining the Warriors would be enticing, but it’s also important to note that he’s certainly getting up there in age and has lost a few steps.

He still proved that he can help a contending team, but the Warriors are very old, and that could have disaster written all over it.

However, if Horford can continue to knock down shots and be a viable defender around the rim defensively, the Warriors would be in a very good position.
