The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the offseason needing cornerback help.
Turns out, they may have added too much help.
Superstars Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay are in town to join Joey Porter Jr.
Because of that, newcomer Brandin Echols’ job is in danger, despite having signed a two-year, $6 million contract in free agency this offseason.
FanSided’s Cody Williams warns that Echols might get cut.
“It’s getting more difficult by the day to see how Echols fits into the mix at all with the Steelers. Some combination of Slay, Porter Jr. and Ramsey are expected to start on the outside and in the slot at cornerback,” Williams writes. “Meanwhile, Beanie Bishop Jr. and James Pierre have the experience in Pittsburgh that gives them some sort of edge as backups, the same of which is somewhat true for Cory Trice Jr. That puts Echols in a position to battle with those three and seventh-round rookie Donte Kent for spots on the depth chart.”

The former New York Jets cornerback has five interceptions in four seasons in the NFL.
Most of his money is guaranteed, so that won’t be the decider.
Pittsburgh may just run out of room on the depth chart. And if that happens, Echols may be looking for a new job before he even settled in at this one.
