Steelers may cut ties with Jaylen Warren in shocking trade prediction

When Najee Harris left Pittsburgh for the Los Angeles Chargers, the fallout looked obvious.

It was now Jaylen Warren’s time with the Steelers.

Except, they haven’t handled the rest of the offseason like that.

In free agency, Pittsburgh signed Kenneth Gainwell. And then in the draft, it was Kaleb Johnson out of Iowa.

Warren went from free reign in the backfield to a three-headed conundrum.

The Steelers have never allowed Warren to be their go-to back despite his consistently excellent per-play production.

Now, Pro Football Network has even suggested that Warren could be traded.

“Given the explosiveness Warren has shown as the 1B back in recent seasons, it’s possible the Steelers could recoup a decent pick if he doesn’t win a clear role over Johnson or Gainwell,” PFN writes.

Teams would likely line up to get Warren for a mid-round pick.

He’s a great pass catcher and a shifty runner with burst between the tackles.

He isn’t huge, but he’s thick and capable of holding up over the course of a long season.

Pittsburgh probably shouldn’t trade Warren, but the Steelers clearly don’t value him to the fullest extent.

Maybe a new home would finally allow Warren to break out in a big way.
