Stash Jaydon Blue from fantasy waiver wires before Week 6 with Miles Sanders out for season

The Dallas Cowboys placed running back Miles Sanders (knee/ankle) on season-ending injured reserve.

Fantasy football players should pick up Jaydon Blue.

After being a healthy scratch for the first four games of the season, the rookie now steps up to the No. 2 back on the Cowboys’ depth chart behind Javonte Williams, who has been one of the biggest positive surprises of the NFL season.

Coming into this season, Blue generated hype around a possibly big role in this offense.

Can he become a weekly flex option now that he’s Next Man Up? Read for a breakdown of Blue’s fantasy value for the rest of the season.

Should I add Jaydon Blue in fantasy leagues?

In deeper leagues, sure, why not add the 5-foot-9, 196-pounder from the Week 6 waiver wire?

In the offseason, head coach Brian Schottenheimer raved about Blue. The talent was never the issue, but the rookie showed some consistency issues.

Blue would have a way to go before he would be able to be a starter on your fantasy team, but there is no harm in stashing him.

How much work will Blue see behind Javonte Williams?

To be completely honest, the immediate work may not pile up, even with Sanders out for the year and top wideout CeeDee Lamb (ankle) still sidelined.

With Williams being surprisingly excellent in this offense, there is no chance of Blue simply winning the job. Williams would have to go down with an injury to allow for anything like that to happen.

Maybe Blue could fall into a red-zone snap or two, or catch a few passes and break off a long run after the catch in space.

Of course, for however long Williams misses any time, Blue could earn fantasy RB2-level work.

Is Phil Mafah someone to watch in fantasy leagues?

Mafah (shoulder) could be activated from injured reserve soon to provide Dallas RB3 work. The 6-foot, 234-pounder could snag some short-yardage and goal-line opportunities as well, given his build.
