Brazil put on something of a show in Friday’s international friendly against South Korea in Seoul.
The Selecao eased to a 5-0 victory in the driving rain in the nation’s capital, with a packed-out Seoul World Cup Stadium entertained throughout by some impressive football and a halftime K-Pop performance.
Brazil came through a troubled World Cup qualifying period to finish fifth in the CONMEBOL standings and secure a place at next year’s finals. Now, it’s all about Carlo Ancelotti preparing for the event.
On this evidence, they’re off to a promising start.
Estevao and Rodrygo were the stars, each scoring twice to put Brazil in a commanding position before Vinicius Junior added a fifth goal in the second half.
Estevao’s opener was a clever finish high into the net after a brilliant pass from Bruno Guimaraes. Rodrygo then scored the pick of the goals, stepping over Vinicius’ cut-back, receiving Casemiro’s first-time pass and tucking away an unerring finish.
Chelsea star Estevao made it 3-0 just after halftime after Kim Min-jae stumbled on the ball in his own box, and Rodrygo got the fourth only two minutes later following a fine Vinicius assist.
South Korea, who paid tribute to Son Heung-min as he won a record 137th senior cap, were then caught out in their push for a consolation goal. Brazil cleared a corner, Matheus Cunha found Vinicius, and he raced away from inside his own half to cap a strong showing. Japan are up next.

South Korea vs. Brazil highlights, key events
*Highlights will be added below when they become available
77 mins: GOAL! Vinicius gets in on the act! South Korea have been pushing for a consolation for much of this half, but they get stung on the counter here from a corner. Vinicius races away from inside his own half from Matheus Cunha’s pass, sits the goalkeeper down and, despite losing his balance, manages to prod a finish beneath Kim Ju-sung and into the net.
49 mins: GOAL! Now Rodrygo has his second! The South Korean defence is all over the place as Casemiro feeds Vinicius, who plays a terrific pass on the turn into the path of his Real Madrid teammate. Rodrygo then has time to steady himself before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
47 mins: GOAL! Estevao does it again! It’s a horrible moment for Kim Min-jae, who gets the ball stuck under his foot and is closed down and dispossessed by the Chelsea forward. The finish is relatively simple from there.
41 mins: GOAL! Magnificent from Rodrygo! A flowing Brazil move sees Vinicius with the ball to the left of the box. Rodrygo dummies his cut-back and receives a first-time pass from Casemiro, then drops a shoulder to unbalance the defenders and curls the ball into the net. That’s a wonderful goal.
13 mins: GOAL! Brazil strike first, and it’s Estevao with the breakthrough! Bruno Guimaraes threads a super pass into the Chelsea forward’s path in the box, and he side-foots high into the net over the onrushing Jo Hyeon-woo. Excellent finish.
7 mins: South Korea pay tribute to captain Son Heung-min as he becomes their all-time most capped player, with 137 senior international appearances. The cheer inside the stadium in Seoul is deafening.
