Many Major League Soccer stars have chosen the off-season to return to European football to keep themselves fit and prove that they can still compete at the highest level.
David Beckham and Landon Donovan went on loan from the LA Galaxy to AC Milan and Everton, respectively. Thierry Henry also returned to Arsenal on loan from the New York Red Bulls.
One of MLS’s recent star players, Son Heung-min of Los Angeles FC, could also utilise the off-season for a loan move.
LAFC are currently in the playoffs, where they face a three-legged tie against Austin FC. If they are eliminated, then their season is over. The new MLS campaign does not start again until next year.
According to Transfer Feed, “Among the alternatives being considered (for Son) are Milan, a return to his former club Tottenham, or a move to South Korea.”

Son will want to prove that he can still perform at the highest level ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which South Korea has already qualified for.
Last season in the Premier League, Son still managed seven goals with 10 assists in 30 games for Tottenham Hotspur.
However, it seems unlikely that Spurs will have him back as the club is in a new era since the departure of chairman Daniel Levy.
AC Milan could be a good option for Son, as they could do with a new winger, with Christian Pulisic currently injured.
Son will also be a huge boost for Milan off the field as he is South Korea’s most famous player.
It has not been revealed which South Korean side Son could join. However, he did play for FC Seoul’s academy before joining Hamburger SV.
Seoul has signed big-name players in the past and currently has former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard in its squad.
