Son Heung-min receives LAFC proposal as Tottenham captain set to make transfer call

Son Heung-min has a big decision to make — and it’s not just about where he’ll be playing next season, but where his legacy goes from here.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Los Angeles FC have sent a formal proposal to the Tottenham captain, offering him a fresh chapter in Major League Soccer.

The offer reportedly stands at £15 million, and the ball is now in Son’s court. Spurs, for their part, are ready to let him decide.

Son is entering the final year of his contract, and while Tottenham extended it through 2026 earlier this year, they’ve yet to agree new terms.

The 33-year-old remains one of the club’s most respected figures, with over 450 appearances and a Europa League trophy under his belt — not to mention a Golden Boot from 2022.

He’s also a commercial giant in Asia, and with Spurs set to embark on a preseason tour across South Korea and Hong Kong, his presence is seen as essential.

Reports suggest the club could lose up to 75% of the tour’s revenue if he doesn’t make the trip.

So yes, this isn’t just a footballing call — it’s a financial one, too.

Why Son Heung-min could leave Tottenham this summer?

While Thomas Frank has praised Son’s loyalty and work ethic, he hasn’t confirmed if the South Korean will remain club captain.

With LAFC pushing hard and Saudi interest still lingering, the timing may be right for a new start.

Frank addressed the uncertainty last week: “Right now I have a player that is fully committed and training well… If someone wants to leave at a certain stage, then there can be something there.”

LAFC believe Son would be a game-changer, both on and off the pitch. With a large Korean-American community in Los Angeles and former Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris already at the club, the move makes sense for all sides.

Still, with Spurs relying heavily on Son for their Asian tour and new manager Frank assessing his squad, no final decision will come until after their final match in Seoul on August 3.

For now, Son remains the face of Tottenham — but a switch to the City of Angels could soon be calling.
