The Pittsburgh Steelers only have two logical quarterback solutions entering the end of March.
After Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants on Tuesday night, Aaron Rodgers seems to be the player the Steelers will target.
If Mike Tomlin and the Steelers’ front office were content with drafting a rookie quarterback, they could go that route, too.
However, the Steelers aren’t in the best position to land a quarterback, as they hold the No. 21 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The only way for Pittsburgh to find its future quarterback in the draft would be by trading up.
Bill Barnwell of ESPN proposed a deal to help them do that with the Chicago Bears. His proposal would move No. 21, a third-rounder (No. 83), a fourth-rounder (No. 123), and next year’s first-rounder to the Bears for No. 10 and a fifth-rounder (No. 148).

As a result of the trade idea, the Steelers would select Shedeur Sanders.
“Only one quarterback has come off the board? If I’m running the Steelers, I’m making a call to the Bears and seeing if I can move up to the No. 10 spot. This is the AFC North, after all — I need a quarterback for the long haul when I’m facing the likes of Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson,” Barnwell wrote.
Sanders has all the tools to be an elite-level quarterback in the NFL. Some have questioned his character, but it’s been a bit unfair. He wants to prove he’ll be a star in the NFL, and the Steelers could use that.
