It seems Manchester United’s leadership duo aren’t exactly on the same page when it comes to strikers.
According to reports (via The Mirror), Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly blocked Ruben Amorim’s plan to bring Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford.
The Poland international, now 37, is out of contract next summer — and Amorim apparently saw a golden chance to add some serious firepower.
Lewandowski’s name still carries weight across Europe. Even as age catches up, his record remains elite — over 100 goals for Barcelona and countless more during his Bayern Munich glory days.
Amorim reportedly believes the veteran could guide Benjamin Sesko and add experience to a young United attack.
But Ratcliffe, it seems, isn’t buying into nostalgia goals.

Why Ratcliffe’s camp is against signing Lewandowski?
The INEOS chief has reportedly made it clear that the club won’t repeat what he sees as “mistakes of the past.”
Names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, and Bastian Schweinsteiger are often whispered in the same breath — all expensive short-term fixes that didn’t quite fix anything.
Lewandowski’s weekly wage at Barcelona reportedly tops £500,000, and he’s not expected to accept much less.
Ratcliffe, who’s been vocal about tightening United’s wage structure, is said to have stepped in early to end the conversation. The message?
No more mega-money deals for players whose best days might already be behind them.
For now, Amorim will have to make do with what he’s got. Sesko is still settling in, Matheus Cunha offers versatility, and the Red Devils may dip into the market for a younger forward instead.
Still, you can’t help but wonder — what if? A player like Lewandowski, even at 37, could teach finishing classes at Carrington with his eyes closed.
But Ratcliffe’s apparent stance shows that sentiment doesn’t score goals — or balance the books.
