Shohei Ohtani earns Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Beatles comparisons from Hall of Famer, Dodgers

There’s no one in Major League Baseball like Shohei Ohtani.

Anyone who is trying to sum him up has no choice but to step away from the diamond and use other comparisons for the Dodgers two-way superstar.

Future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw recently said Ohtani was like The Beatles, according to MLB.com.

Current Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. said the only people he could compare Ohtani to are Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

“Those would be the guys that can relate (to him) better than me,” Griffey said, “because those guys can’t go nowhere. I can still slide out in places.”

Ohtani’s current Dodgers teammate Anthony Banda is on board with the MJ comp.

“I’ve been told there’s Shohei everywhere you look (in Japan),” Banda said. “Think about how Michael Jordan was (in the U.S.), and it’s the same.”

Another Dodger, Tyler Glasnow, called the Ohtani craze like “Justin Bieber times 10.”

The Dodgers are in Japan to play the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series, a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday to open the MLB regular season.

Ohtani, coming off a season of 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases, will lead off for the Dodgers in both games in his home country. All eyes, and many phone cameras, will be pointed at him. And like those all time greats he’s been compared to, he very well might deliver.
