The Baltimore Ravens added to their wide receiver room during free agency this offseason, signing DeAndre Hopkins to a one-year deal. The team also used a sixth-round selection on Colorado playmaker LaJohntay Webster.
Baltimore has a solid receiver trio of Zay Flowers, Hopkins, and Rashod Bateman. However, Last Word on Sports’ Anthony Palacios believes the Ravens should take the position group to the next level and trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed.
“The Ravens are always one step closer to the Super Bowl. They’re hoping that DeAndre Hopkins can finally bring some new life to this new unit and pick up the slack when Rashod Bateman consistently can’t. It’s possible the Ravens could trade Bateman since the Cowboys were interested in him. If that happens, the Ravens should get another true potential playmaker like Reed to fill that spot behind Zay Flowers,” Palacios wrote.
Reed had a solid 2024 campaign, totaling 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. The 25-year-old has missed just one game through his first two seasons and has shown flashes of high-level play.
Though Reed has shown promise, the Packers did heavily focus on the wide receiver room during the draft, selecting Matthew Golden in Round 1 and Savion Williams in Round 3. The team still plans on Reed being their top pass-catcher, but there’s also a scenario where they shockingly move on from him and bank on Golden being the No.1 receiver.
If Green Bay decides to trade Reed, the Ravens would be a logical landing spot. Baltimore needs as much speed as possible to unlock the offense and aid superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson. Acquiring Reed to pair with Flowers would be absolutely electric.
Obviously, it’s unlikely that Reed isn’t on the Packers’ roster in 2025. However, we’ve seen crazier things happen in the NFL, so the Ravens should keep an eye on the Michigan State product’s situation in Green Bay.
