Series: Calgary Flames offseason recap

In this series, we take a look at each team and see what they’ve done over the offseason. Next up is the Calgary Flames.

Key additions: Ivan Prosvetov

Prosetov returns to the NHL after spending last year in the KHL. He likely replaces the departing Dan Vladar as Dustin Wolf’s backup goalie. The Flames have spent most of their time getting key contract extensions done with players such as Morgan Frost and Kevin Bahl. Otherwise, they have not added much pieces of note to the roster.

Key subtractions: Anthony Mantha, Dan Vladar

Conversely, the Flames have not lost much either. It will be a team that looks very much similar to last year with the potential of some young guns added to the lineup such as Zayne Parekh.

Highest draft pick: Cole Reschny, 18th overall

Salary cap space: $15.4 million

Staff: The Flames will be running it back with the same staff next season. Coach Ryan Huska took over the job in the 23-24 season. They did add former Blackhawk Brent Seabrook as a member of their development staff.

Other: The future of top forward Nazim Kadri with the organization is in doubt as his name has been featured in various trade rumors of late. The Flames also have to take care of the Rasmus Andersson contract extension at some point as he has established himself as one of the teams top dmen. He is another player that could possibly be moved if a deal can’t get done.
