Seattle Mariners linked to 3X all-star third baseman

The Seattle Mariners made many notable and impactful trades at the 2025 deadline. One of those included trading for third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

Suarez has taken a slight dip in production since joining the Mariners, and that has drawn some speculation that the front office may let him walk this Winter, as he’s an impending free agent.

Mariners linked to Red Sox Alex Bregman

Suarez has still had a great year offensively, but it’s hard to convince sluggers to sign at T-Mobile Park, which is notoriously hard for right-handed hitters to find their power stroke.

In a recent Bleacher Report piece, Red Sox star Alex Bregman is linked to Seattle as a possible landing spot:

“Still, the M’s are worth mentioning here. They have great starting pitching and a tremendous one-two offensive punch with Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez. If the president of baseball operations, Jerry Dipoto, has the financial wherewithal to both re-sign Josh Naylor and lure Bregman to Seattle, it would be a great offseason.”

With a rotation as good as the Mariners, the expectation is that they will be contenders for years to come, but that would also mean they’d have to open up the checkbook and sign some star free agents.

Bregman hasn’t officially done it yet, but the expectation is he will opt out of his current deal with the Red Sox, and hit the open market for a more lucrative deal.

Bregman hit .273 in 114 games this season, with 18 home runs and an OPS+ of 128.
