San Francisco has since released a statement about the allegations, largely deferring to the league on the matter. Hjelle’s last pitching appearance came on Friday night against the Red Sox, which is after the video was released but before the Giants acknowledged that they contacted the league.

Sean Hjelle allegations, explained
Hjelle’s wife, Caroline Hjelle, posted a TikTok video of her playing with her two sons while accusing the pitcher of both having an affair and abuse in the caption. The video included a snippet of Lorde’s song, “Man of the Year.” The video has since been taken down off TikTok.
“When my MLB husband abandons us on Mother’s Day a week after this once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse so I’ve been raising two boys alone,” the TikTok caption read.

The Giants released a statement on Saturday, saying they take the allegations seriously and have spoken with the league.
“We are aware of these serious allegations,” the statement said, via Alex Pavlovic. “We have been contact with MLB. These type of allegations fall under their jurisdiction and we won’t be commenting further.”
Additionally, Giants manager Bob Melvin addressed the allegations before San Francisco’s game vs. the Red Sox.
“Obviously, we’re aware of it,” Melvin said, via NBC Sports. “He told me about it last night. We talked to MLB. At this point, it’s in their jurisdiction right now so I really can’t comment on it further.”
After the game, Hjelle said that he and wife are not currently together and and have been the process of divorcing for the past year.
“We reached an agreement in mediation this offseason,” Hjelle said, via NBC Sports. “In the state of Virginia we had to wait a full year of separation, which was filed last May. So the official divorce decree has been delayed because of me starting in Sacramento, and per the terms of the agreement there were some nuances and what not. So that part has actually been delayed. But for all intents and purposes the divorce is a signature away from being officially finalized.”
He added he doesn’t have an official statement, but he plans to address the matter soon.
“I would like to talk with my agent, my lawyer,” he said. “This has been something that’s been going on for over a year now in terms of our relationship and our divorce and our separation and everything. But I don’t have any official comment right now.”
Hjelle, one of the tallest pitchers in MLB history at 6-11, is currently in his fourth season with the Giants and has appeared in six games this season after a career-high 58 appearances last year.
