Being a professional golfer is a unique profession that requires a lot of travel and time on the road. As a result, many golfers become close with each other, which is exactly what happened with Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns.
The two golfers have developed as players simultaneously, of course with Scheffler reaching heights far higher than Burns thus far. While Scheffler has reached stardom, Burns has been been right next to him throughout, both on and off the course.
Here’s a breakdown of the relationship between Scheffler and Burns over the years.

Scottie Scheffler-Sam Burns friendship
Scheffler and Burns are close friends, and their friendship dates back to when they were teenagers, when they played junior golf together. As they graduated college and entered professional golf at the same time, the two have grown close, describing their faith as a big reason for their friendship.
Now, Scheffler, Burns and their families spend a ton of time together on the road in tournaments, often living together at each host site. Scheffler’s wife, Meredith, even credits Caroline Burns for getting Scheffler into chickpea pasta.
Additionally, when they both made the 2023 USA Ryder Cup team, Scheffler and Burns would get paired together for rounds due to their chemistry.
“Obviously, Scottie and I have played a lot of golf together, and we’re excited to team up and try to go out there and get the first point for our team,” Burns said before he and Scheffler opened the tournament, via ESPN.

Family moments
At the 2024 Masters, Meredith Scheffler and Caroline Burns were pregnant at the same time, and both Scottie and Sam said they would’ve left the tournament if their wives went into labor. That didn’t happen, as Scheffler went on to win the Masters, while both players became fathers within the next few weeks.

They’ve grown so close that they and their wives share a house during tournament weeks and get their families together frequently. Now that they each have a newborn son, those experiences have changed.
“It’s funny how it’s evolved over our years on Tour,” Sam Burns said on the Subpar Podcast, via Golf.com. “Really it’s pretty relaxed. We come home and the girls have either cooked or we order food and just hang out. Golf isn’t really talked about very much. Maybe we’ll watch a show or sports or whatever it is but kind of overall it’s pretty chill.”
