Saudi Pro League trio chase star after Man United transfer decision

Manchester United have reportedly made a host of transfer decisions heading into the summer window.

Ruben Amorim’s spending power has been severely hit by United’s failure to qualify for any European competition for the 2025/26 season.

Club captain Bruno Fernandes has opted against a move to the Saudi Pro League after the Portugal international confirmed an offer did arrive from Al Hilal at the start of June.

However, despite the rejection of Fernandes, the Saudi Pro League are still keen on signing at least one United player in the coming weeks with the Daily Mirror claiming Jadon Sancho is a target.

Sancho has returned to Manchester following his loan spell at Chelsea and the club hierarchy are hoping to offload the England international this month.

The latest update indicates Chelsea have pulled out of a £25m [$34m] clause to sign Sancho permanently – which will incur a £5m [$6.75m] penalty fee – but the former Borussia Dortmund star remains on Amorim’s exit list.

Alongside a mixed run of form at Chelsea, the financial burden of Sancho was also something the Blues were not willing to carry with his current wage at United set at round £300,000 [$406,000]-a-week.

That will prove difficult to overcome, as United look for bidders, and the financial might of the PIF-backed Saudi top-flight may be his only option, if the 25-year-old declines a major pay cut to stay in Europe.

Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al Nassr are the three teams looking at an offer for Sancho, and they will accept the above clause which Chelsea did not pay, and match his current wage at Old Trafford.

That potential incoming fee will be reinvested into Amorim’s squad, with a deal already agreed for Matheus Cunha, as the Red Devils chasing down Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.
