It’s been a busy (and expensive) week of business for the New York Jets. They agreed to terms on a new, 4-year contract worth $130 million for superstar receiver Garrett Wilson on Monday. Then, less than 24 hours later, the Jets inked lockdown cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner to a contract extension of his own, this one a 4-year, $120.4 million deal that makes him the highest paid cornerback in the NFL.
Immediately following the breaking news of Gardner’s new contract, both Gardner and the New York Jets took to social media to share their reactions. While the Jets opted for the ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ approach, Gardner took time to thank his agents, teammates, the fans, and the Jets organization.

With the financial part of the business now taken care of, the Jets can turn their attention fully to the football side of business just in time for training camp to start. With a new regime in place, including a new head coach in Aaron Glenn, the Jets are hoping for a fresh start following what was a dysfunctional mess over the last couple of years. By ensuring that their young superstars will be around for the long haul, they’ve taken the first steps on the road back to the AFC playoffs.
