Sam Bennett isn’t going anywhere.
The Conn Smythe Trophy winner, having led the Florida Panthers to a Stanley Cup repeat, is ready to go for a three-peat.
On Friday night, news broke that Bennett had signed a new eight-year pact with the Panthers, the maximum length an NHL player can get.
He’ll get the chance to lead the Panthers as they attempt to maintain their dominance.
Sam Bennett contract details
- Years: 8
- Salary: $64 million
- AAV: $8 million
Sam Bennett’s contract will pay him $8 million per year for eight years, nice easy math to add up to $64 million total, per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
The contract also features an interesting catch.
For the first five years of the deal, Bennett will have a no-move clause.
In the final three years of the deal, per Friedman, the contract will only feature a limited no-trade clause.
It’s not clear what the exact terms of that limited no-trade clause are, but it’ll be a while until anyone has to worry about that.

How Sam Bennett won the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy
Sam Bennett was the MVP of the postseason to earn the Conn Smythe Trophy.
He had 15 goals in 23 playoff games, the top total in the NHL.
Bennett scored five goals across the six games of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Oilers.
And Bennett was a monster on the road. He scored 13 of his 15 goals away from home, an NHL record for a single postseason.
That’s a well-deserved Conn Smythe, and a well-deserved new contract.
