Ryan Gravenberch hails Chelsea star as one of the best he’s played against

During his brief stint in the Premier League so far, Ryan Gravenberch has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the division.

However, the Dutch midfielder couldn’t help but watch as Chelsea handed his Liverpool team a third consecutive defeat before the international break.

Gravenberch, though, came up against another of the league’s best defensive midfielders in the form of Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian is widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the league and in the world by a large section of the fans and pundits.

In a recent interview, Gravenberch was asked about the best player he has faced in his career so far.

And the Dutchman was quick to acknowledge Caicedo’s quality as he heaped praise on the Chelsea star.

Ryan Gravenberch gives Moises Caicedo his flowers

Despite being two of the best midfielders in the league, it is great to see an underlying respect between Gravenberch and Caicedo.

Speaking to GQ, the Premier League’s current Young Player of the Season was happy to praise his fellow midfielders, saying: “I have to go for midfielders. Yes, Rice. Yes, Caicedo. He’s a really good player.”

Caicedo’s stunner against Liverpool was his third of the campaign, making him Chelsea’s top goalscorer in the league. Wednesday’s deflected strike against Ajax took him to four for the season, already more than he managed in two prior years at Chelsea.

Given how young both these players are, one can expect them to develop an exciting individual rivalry for years to come.
