The Dallas Mavericks have some moves to make this offseason, and a former MVP could be a great addition.
Since Kyrie Irving tore his ACL in March, the Mavericks have had to question what next season might look like. Considering Irving’s age, there is no guarantee that he looks the same when he returns, and his absence could last the majority of the season.
With those issues staring at Dallas, the Mavericks have been a team linked to making a point guard move this offseason. What better way to replace Irving than with one of the most dynamic players the game has ever seen.
In a recent Bleacher Report article, Adam Wells listed Dallas as a top landing spot for Russell Westbrook. After a successful season in Denver, Westbrook recently declined his player option, clearing the way for him to find a new team in free agency.
Going into his 18th season, Westbrook is likely looking for a spot where he can play a large role and contend for a championship. While the Mavericks have plenty of question marks going into next season, there is no doubt that they could have a high ceiling.
Along with the general talent on the roster, Westbrook would have some existing chemistry with Anthony Davis. The two worked well together on the Lakers when Davis was healthy, and their pick-and-roll combo could be a perfect way to find some offense with Irving out.

While there is still no real sign as to where Westbrook might land, the Brodie clearly has more to give to the game.
