From four major wins to his team-up with Tiger Woods to form the TGL, it’s hard to name many golfers that have had a larger impact on the sport over the past decade than McIlroy. In the 2025 Masters, he’s continued his pursuit of a career grand slam.
Supporting McIlroy since 2015 has been his wife, Erica Stoll, with whom he has a daughter. But in May 2024, the couple was on the brink of a divorce before reversing course, remaining together to this day.

In May 2024, McIlroy filed for divorce from Stoll. The couple began dating in 2015, got married in April 2017, then welcomed a daughter, Poppy, in August 2020.
Just before the 2024 U.S. Open though, McIlroy and Stoll withdrew from a potential divorce, deciding they wanted to remain together.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together,” McIlroy told The Guardian at the time. “Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
The Belfast Telegraph reported that the couple had talks “each weekend for the last four weeks,” which led to their decision to remain married. Stoll has continued to support McIlroy’s golf endeavors since.

Who is Rory McIlroy’s wife?
McIlroy is married to Erica Stoll. The two met when Stoll was working for PGA of America. She first met McIlroy at the 2012 Ryder Cup, according to People. McIlroy overslept and nearly missed his tee time, but Stoll got him a police escort to the course.
“Erica that week was always the one that was checking us in and out. She was there at transportation, so she was always in the car park over there,” McIlroy said, per People. “But yeah, it’s still cool to look around and think about that week, and obviously everything that’s happened since then. It’s pretty cool.”
McIlroy was still dating tennis star Carolina Wozniacki when he met Stoll, so the two were just friends at first. After they started dating in 2015, McIlroy proposed to Stoll in Paris, then the couple got married in 2017.
Stoll is originally from Irondequoit, New York, and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in marketing in 2008, according to People.
