Rome Odunze takes fun jab at rookie teammate over National Championship Game

Last year, the Chicago Bears selected wide receiver Rome Odunze out of University of Washington with the 9th overall pick, shortly after the Huskies fell to the Michigan Wolverines in the 2024 National Championship. One player on that Michigan Wolverines championship team was tight end Colston Loveland, who was drafted by the Bears in this year’s draft with the 10th overall selection.

Once former opponents, Odunze and Loveland are both now teammates at the professional love and both were first-round picks who will be looking to elevate the franchise’s success. Although Odunze got to the NFL before him, Loveland will have the collegiate championship to his credit over the wide receiver, and Odunze has not forgotten it.

Speaking to the media at training camp on Saturday, Odunze took a fun jab at Loveland, saying he won’t forget about their college history against one another.

To his credit, Odunze had plenty of praise for his new rookie teammate, and both players will be a big part of head coach Ben Johnson’s offensive scheme in the 2025 season.
