Rodrygo’s bold request to Real Madrid sparks exit rumors

As Real Madrid prepare for their second La Liga game of the new season, more rumors regarding Rodrygo have grown after the first matchday resulted in no minutes for the Brazilian winger.

Xabi Alonso decided to start Brahim Diaz in the right wing position against Osasuna this week and brought on Franco Mastantuono to replace Diaz in the second half. Rodrygo did not come off the bench, and rumors of his departure continue as the summer transfer window closes in less than 10 days.

The game against Real Oviedo this weekend could be an indicator of the future of Rodrygo at the club. New reports suggest that the Brazilian winger has made a special request in regards to his position in the team.

If Rodrygo receives minutes against Real Oviedo, a decisive performance could not only secure a spot in the starting lineup but also a great position at the club.

Rodrygo Wants to Play as a Left-Winger

According to Rodra/Javier Rodríguez Pascual from ESPN, Rodrygo is now considered a left winger in Xabi Alonso’s squad. The Brazilian requested the position change as he no longer wants to play on the right side of the attack.

Rodrygo is a natural right-footed player and has impressed fans as a left-winger. He played most of his Real Madrid career as a right-winger.

The issue with this request is that Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe are ahead of him in the pecking order in the squad.

Rob Dawson from ESPN reports that Real Madrid’s reported valuation of Rodrygo is 80 million euros. Manchester City remains an option for the Brazilian if the English club sells Savinho this summer.
