Rodrygo Goes has been the subject of various rumors and links this summer as his future at Real Madrid has been unclear since the end of last season.
The man linked with Manchester City recently, was benched for the 7th straight game for Madrid and this time Xabi Alonso didn’t even look his way as he got zero minutes on the night.
Xabi Alonso stated in the post-match conference that “nothing is happening” and that “Rodrygo is still in his plans” but it feels like there’s a clear message being sent.
Rodrygo’s Future
Rodrygo seems to not be in Xabi Alonso’s plans as he benched him throughout the Club World Cup and today he preferred Brahim Diaz and Franco Mastantuono in the right wing position over him.
The problem for Rodrygo is he hasn’t asked to leave yet and it’s gotten late in the window for him to have many suitors.
His best option right now is a move to Manchester City but Fabrizio Romano has said that a move to City depends on Savinho going to Tottenham. In the tweet he also says that for now Man City’s hierarchy are blocking the move for now as they aren’t close to an agreement with Tottenham.
Chance of Staying?
For now, it seems like Rodrygo is stuck at Real Madrid whether he wants to or not. His options are limited and he doesn’t seem in a rush to leave either despite the lack of minutes.
Perhaps a late summer move or a winter transfer is in the cards, but for now it seems like he will stay with Los Blancos.
