Robert Lewandowski ready for Barcelona vs Levante: Will he start?

Ahead of their second game of the new La Liga season, FC Barcelona announced that Robert Lewandowski is fit to play against Levante. The Polish striker suffered an injury a few weeks back during pre-season and missed the team’s league opener.

Lewandowski was out for the match against Mallorca, and his replacement as the starting striker was Ferran Torres. The Polish striker has trained with the team ahead of the game this weekend and was added to the squad list.

He traveled with the rest of the team as Barcelona will play Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. Despite Lewandowski’s return, many reports suggest that the striker will not start against Levante.

Barcelona’s Expected lineup

Barcelona is expected to start with Joan Garcia in goal with a back four of Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Alejandro Balde.

Gavi is expected to replace Frenkie De Jong, who was not included in the squad list after taking days off to spend time with his wife and their newborn child.

Pedri is expected to start alongside Gavi in the midfield, with Dani Olmo as the attacking midfielder. The front three are expected to be Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres.

Hansi Flick spoke about Marcus Rashford ahead of the game against Levante. He was asked if the English forward could be an option to replace Lewandowski, like how Ferran Torres currently is.

Hansi Flick: “Can Rashford replace Ferran or Lewandowski? Absolutely, it’s true that Rashford is closer to a #11, but he’s also exceptional in his first touch and speed. I believe we’ll see a fantastic version of Rashford this season.”
