George Kambosos Jr. can return to glory if he takes down IBF super lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins on June 14. The fight in Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater is available on DAZN in the U.S. and Kayo Sports in Australia.
It is the first fight back in the Hulu Theater for Kambosos (22-3) since beating Teofimo Lopez in 2021 to become the unified lightweight champion. The Aussie has gone 2-3 since then and is 2-1 in his last three fights.
Moving divisions, Kambosos is ready to win gold in New York once again.
“New York is a beautiful place for me, a beautiful city. I’m 2-0 there, ready to be 3-0. I built my legacy here, beaten champion after champion here, and I am coming again, number three, taking his belt,” Kambosos said.
The Brooklyn-born Hitchins (19-0) beat Liam Paro in December to win the IBF title. The 27-year-old has seven wins via knockout and looks to spoil Kambosos’ attempt at history.
“He has experience, I have my skill set and my mentality,” said Hitchins. “People say ‘Hitchins runs.’ I don’t gotta run. It’s smart boxing, always sharp, so don’t make any mistakes. It might not be his hardest fight, but it’s going to be difficult for him.
A lightweight title eliminator fight takes place on the Richardson Hitchins vs. George Kambosos Jr. undercard while several fighters look to impress in New York.
