Revisiting Peyton Manning’s best sketches on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ from United Way to ‘Locker Room Motivation’

Many will be watching the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, but the event of the night just might be the “Saturday Night Live” 50th Anniversary Special.

The three-hour special will feature a team of stars who helped the show become an enduring pop culture force, including alumni like Tina Fey and Eddie Murphy, notable hosts like Dave Chappelle and Steve Martin and at least four of the surviving original cast members: Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman.

Some SNL alumni already confirmed to appear include Adam Sandler, Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, Chris Rock, Fred Armisen, Jason Sudeikis, Jimmy Fallon, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, Pete Davidson, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell and Will Forte.

The show will also pack in musical guests, with Paul McCartney, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus among those scheduled to appear.

On Friday night, NBC has scheduled “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.” It’ll stream live on Peacock, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific. The Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, Post Malone and Bad Bunny are among the planned performances.

SNL has had hundreds of celebrity hosts, and almost every season there is at least one athlete that tries their hand at comedy. One of the most successful is undoubtedly Peyton Manning who regularly flexes his comedic talents on “The Manningcast” and in commercials.

Here is a look back at some of the SNL skits from episodes Manning has hosted.

Peyton Manning SNL sketches

Manning hosted SNL in 2007, giving one of the best performances from any athlete on the show. The episode featured musical guest Carrie Underwood and included memorable sketches such as “Party Pooper,” “United Way,” “Porch Talk,” and “Locker Room Motivation.”

The star quarterback returned to the show in 2022, but not as a host. He appeared on “Weekend Update” during the NFL playoffs.
