Red Sox star slugger first baseman takes pride that his name is in trade talks

The Boston Red Sox have had a lot of MLB insider trade talks and proposals around their slugger first baseman, Triston Casas, who they have said they were not trading. According to Casas, he doesn’t mind being in those talks, and actually finds it funny.

“It’s funny, getting my name tossed around with all these great players, I’m like ‘wow, he’s a great player, like, oh that person’s good too, maybe I’m good too,’…obviously, I want to stay here, but to just hear my name get thrown around a lot, it’s funny because maybe I add a lot of value to that team as well”.

This past season, Casas only played a third of the season due to injury, but he did very well. He slashed .241/.337/.462/.800, with eight doubles and 13 home runs. If he’s able to multiply that by three by playing a full season, he would be irreplaceable to the Sox.

Hopefully, he does play a full season and puts up those types of numbers, and the Sox give him the extension he clearly wants. Then, the Sox would never have to worry about a first baseman for at least a decade.
