Red Sox’ Garrett Crochet chases chance to become Boston’s third pitcher to complete prestigious achievement

Boston Red Sox superstar ace Garrett Crochet has been one of the most dominant pitchers this season, and he has a chance to make history with his performance.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Crochet is on track to lead the MLB in strikeouts, with only two Boston pitchers being able to do it before him.

“Garrett Crochet pitches against the Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball Tonight. From @EliasSports: He leads the majors with 228 strikeouts this season. The only Red Sox pitchers ever to lead the majors in strikeouts are Roger Clemens (1988 and 1991) and Chris Sale (2017)” Olney revealed.

This season, Crochet has a 15-5 record with a 2.57 ERA, a WHIP of 1.052, and his aforementioned 228 Ks in 185 innings pitched.

Right now, Crochet has at least three starts left counting tonight’s. If he can put on his normal self, and not get blown up, he could get the strikeout crown.

He also could win the innings pitched crown, as he is only 2 ⅓ innings behind the leader, San Francisco Giants’ Logan Webb, who has 188 innings pitched.

Crochet will most likely miss out on the Triple Crown however, as his ERA is too high. He would have to catch Detroit Tigers ace and Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, who has a 2.26. If Skubal gets blown up in his final starts, Crochet could have a chance.

Overall, Crochet has been worth every penny of his contract. Hopefully he at least secures the strikeout lead, as then he has a chance to make Boston history.
