Real Madrid talent attracts Benfica interest amid summer transfer talks

Benfica are working around the clock this summer to bring in new faces, but so far, they’ve come up short.

After failing to bring back Joao Felix, the Lisbon giants are on the hunt for a different kind of playmaker- someone who can play in between the lines, think fast in tight spaces and add something extra in the attacking third.

That search has now led them to Spain, where the club has turned its attention to Brahim DĂaz.

As reported by Record, Benfica have made early contact with Real Madrid to explore the possibility of taking the attacking midfielder on loan.

The conversations, while still at an informal stage, shows just how serious the club are about reinforcing their depleted squad.

Club officials believe Diaz, who featured in 56 matches last season and contributed six goals and seven assists, can offer the creativity they are missing.

The Morocco international has always been viewed as a technical, smart player with strong instincts in the final third.

However, even with his steady contributions, his role under new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is limited.

He didn’t start any match in the FIFA Club World Cup, and only saw 104 minutes of action across the tournament, and that lack of starting opportunities gives Benfica reason to hope.

Brahim Diaz has no interest leaving Real Madrid

While Benfica’s interest is real, and other clubs including Fenerbahce and Saudi Pro League sides have also made their approaches, Brahim remains committed to staying in Madrid.

As reported by Marca [via Football Espana], the player has no desire to leave this summer, and is on the verge of signing a new five-year contract.

Despite limited starts, Alonso will give him a chance to impress, especially with Jude Bellingham sidelined for three months after shoulder surgery.

This firm stance from both the club and the player means Benfica are likely facing another dead end in their search for a new No.10, with hopes fading that they can secure a late-summer breakthrough.
