Real Madrid have increased their activity ahead of the summer transfer window as they would want to get their house in order with the arrival of new manager Xabi Alonso.
As per several reports, the Spaniard is looking to implement his 3-4-3 formation to Los Blancos, and therefore he has shortlisted players who can fit the system and also work in his philosophy.
Los Blancos have allegedly finalised the deal for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen. The Spaniard was on the radar of several clubs all across Europe. But the 20-year-old was keen to join Real Madrid.
After potentially roping in Huijsen, reports from Relevo suggest that Madrid have stepped up in their pursuit of Benfica fullback Alvaro Carreras.
The former Castilla graduate has had an impressive campaign with Benfica, and therefore he is on Madrid’s radar for sometime now. The team management aren’t satisfied with the left-back options of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia. They feel Carreras can be an upgrade over the duo on the left flank.
As per Marca, Real Madrid have been monitoring the youngster for quite some time. He is protected with a €50 million release clause, but Madrid are looking to negotiate a lower fee for the Spaniard.

How will Alvaro Carreras fit in Alonso’s system?
The only stumbling block in this Carreras’ deal is Manchester United’s preemptive buy-back clause of €18 million, which is reportedly valid until December 31.
The Spaniard started his career at Racing de Ferrol before moving to Deportivo La Coruna. He eventually ended up at Real Madrid’s Castilla in 2017 and after three years, he moved on to Manchester United. Carreras never featured for Madrid’s senior team.

He spent a couple of years at United’s youth academy but left before making his senior debut. He had a couple of loan stints at Preston and Granada before eventually making it big at Benfica.
As per reports on Marca, Real Madrid team management have no interest in including any Premier League club in any potential negotiations. Carreras also has no intentions of returning to United, so that boosts Los Blancos’ chances of landing him.
The 22-year-old is known for his defensive capabilities, progressive passing, and has the pace to make the overlapping runs to flourish in Alonso’s system.
As per FBref, Carreras has registered 6.67 progressive passes, 2.89 progressive carries, 1.18 successful take-ons and 2.79 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes.
He can be a solid signing for Los Blancos on the left flank. He is someone who will complement the system that Alonso wants to implement in the Spanish capital.
