Real Madrid hit with Camavinga injury concern before La Liga kickoff

Real Madrid announced the injury of Eduardo Camavinga ahead of the new La Liga season, which starts in less than ten days. The French midfielder suffered a sprain on his right ankle.

Real Madrid statement: “After the tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle. Pending evolution.”

Camavinga is set to miss Real Madrid’s upcoming friendly match against WSG Tirol on August 12 at the Tivoli Stadion Tirol in Austria.

It would be Real Madrid’s only preseason match of the summer ahead of their first official match of the new season. With Camavinga out, his injury puts his participation in the first La Liga game in doubt.

According to Arancha Rodriguez from Tiempo de Juego Cope, Camavinga is expected to be out for ten days. He will likely not be risked and will miss Real Madrid’s game against Osasuna on August 19.

Two Midfield Injuries in Real Madrid Opener in La Liga

That would be two key misses for Real Madrid’s midfielder as Jude Bellingham is set to miss three months after undergoing surgery on his shoulder.

Xabi Alonso has not played Camavinga since his arrival in June. The French midfielder suffered an injury in April and returned for selection in the FIFA Club World Cup match against PSG. He didn’t feature any minutes.

A few months back, Camavinga suffered a tear of his left abductor tendon. Marca reports that Camavinga will be key in Xabi Alonso’s plans for the upcoming season.

Alonso’s options for Real Madrid’s game against Osasuna is now Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, Daniel Ceballos, and Arda Guler
