Real Madrid suffered a crushing 4-0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal of the Club World Cup on July 9 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
With this defeat, Los Blancos’ journey in the competition comes to an end as FIFA decided against holding a third-place fixture to allow participating clubs to have the remainder of their break ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Now, Real Madrid have taken a big decision regarding one of their stars, Jude Bellingham. The 22-year-old was subbed off in the semifinals’ second half due to discomfort and will now undergo shoulder surgery after their return from the United States.
Bellingham has been dealing with the injury since has been dealing with this problem since November 2023, after he dislocated his left shoulder in a La Liga match against a league match against Rayo Vallecano.
The decision on the surgery has been in the works for a while now and was anticipated to take place after the end of the Club World Cup. However, Real Madrid’s exit from the competition ahead of the final has preponed the date of the procedure.
Speaking after Real Madrid’s win against Pachuca in the Club World Cup group stage, Bellingham addressed his injury and said,

“I have surgery scheduled for after the tournament, hopefully after the final. I’ve waited a long time and I’m running out of patience. I want to feel free again,” as per beIN SPORTS.
When will Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham undergo surgery?
Bellingham’s shoulder surgery is scheduled for after July 13, according to Real Madrid Confidential.
The Englishman is expected to be out of action for three to four months following the surgery, which means he will miss a major part of the first half of the upcoming season.
Real Madrid’s first La Liga clash of the 2025/26 season is slated for August 19, where they will face Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Along with league matches, Bellingham could also miss the league phase matches of the Champions League, which is set to commence on September 16.
With Bellingham being a key player in Xabi Alonso’s squad, Real Madrid will be hoping for a speedy recovery for the midfielder, especially during a fresh start in the upcoming campaign.
