Earlier today, Real Betis finalized an agreement to add Brazilian winger Antony on a permanent basis, but he would not be the last former Manchester United player to join the La Liga side.
In the waning hours of Deadline Day, football insider Fabrizio Romano announced that Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat would be joining Real Betis after spending last season at Fenerbahce. In recent times, the Turkish club is undergoing an overhaul after firing manager Jose Mourinho, and it looks like Amrabat is also part of the club’s exodus.

Last season, Amrabat registered five goal contributions (two goals and three assists) while starting in roughly half of the Super Lig matches for Fenerbahce. Amrabat also started 10 games in the Europa League for the perennial Turkish contenders, though he was only able to put forth one assist in the competition.
At 29 years old, Amrabat has accumulated a wealth of experience across several top leagues in Europe, and he can slot in several positions along the central midfield. Amrabat has experience in a holding role and is known to be a physical player who is able to unlock the press with his passing abilities. Still, these attributes have shown on a less frequent basis in recent years, but Amrabat could offer a steady quota of duel victories and intense minutes for Real Betis during the 2025-26 campaign.
With both Antony and Amrabat in the fold for Betis at the tail end of the transfer window, the La Liga side is looking to make its way up the Spanish table and into the European places for a seventh consecutive season. Right now, Real Betis sits in 8th place in the La Liga table, just off the mark for European competition, but perhaps the additions of Antony and Amrabat could accelerate the club’s climb.

According to Romano, Amrabat is joining Real Betis on a loan basis, so he is expected to return to Fenerbahce after the season ends.
