Ravens make final Justin Tucker release announcement decision after Tyler Loop draft pick

Justin Tucker is officially gone.

The Baltimore Ravens, insisting it’s a “football decision,” cut ties with Tucker on Monday afternoon.

Tucker was the Baltimore kicker since 2012, but he’s been under investigation by the NFL for allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Ravens also drafted kicker Tyler Loop out of Arizona in the sixth round, the first-ever drafted kicker by the franchise.

The writing was on the wall, and now it’s officially over.

The Ravens released this statement:

Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances.

Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker.

Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history.

His reliability, focus, drive, resilience and extraordinary talent made him one of the league’s best kickers for over a decade.

We are grateful for Justin’s many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives.

Tucker is coming off the worst season of his career, making only 73 percent of his field goal attempts.

He’s the most accurate kicker in NFL history at 89.1 percent on FGs.

His NFL future is now in doubt, though, given the league investigation and his on-field struggles.

The Ravens decided they didn’t want him anymore, and his time in the purple and black is done.
