The Baltimore Ravens won’t have quarterback Lamar Jackson back in Week 8 after all.
The Ravens announced on Saturday that Jackson’s Friday participation has been downgraded from full to limited and he has been ruled out.
“There has been an update to Lamar Jackson’s Friday practice and game status,” the Ravens revealed. “Jackson was downgraded from a full practice participant to limited, and he has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game vs. Chicago.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Tyler Huntley will get the start against the Chicago Bears on Sunday instead of Cooper Rush.
The good news is that Jackson is expected to be ready to go in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins, Schefter writes.
“Jackson is expected to return from his hamstring injury Thursday night in Miami versus the Dolphins,” Schefter wrote.
Jackson was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday with his hamstring injury, but it was initially believed he had cemented his return after logging a full practice on Friday before drawing a questionable tag.
This is a brutal turn of events for Baltimore, who simply can’t afford to play another game without Jackson after a 1-5 start through six contests.
Now, the Ravens will hope Huntley, who was promoted to QB2 over Rush, can stop the bleeding and end Baltimore’s four-game losing streak.
If not, Baltimore will fall to 1-6, making their already bleak playoff hopes even worse.
