Rashford reportedly snubs Barcelona to join a PL club in summer transfer window

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly changed his mind about a potential transfer to Barcelona. Instead, he now wants a permanent move to Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old joined Villa on loan in January and has impressed under Unai Emery. He has already provided two assists in five games across all competitions.

Villa have an option to sign Rashford permanently for around £40 million this summer. Initially, it was believed he was holding out for a move to Barcelona. However, recent reports suggest his plans have changed.

Rashford reportedly wants Aston Villa this summer

According to The Sun, Rashford now sees Villa as the best place for his career. He believes Emery’s coaching can help him get back into the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

The forward has been a key player for Manchester United, scoring 138 goals and providing 63 assists in 426 appearances.

However, his commitment was questioned by United boss Ruben Amorim in December. This led to his loan move to Villa in the winter transfer window.

Villa recently suffered a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, dropping them to 10th in the Premier League table. They are currently five points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

However, they remain in the FA Cup and will face Cardiff City in the fifth round.

What Emery said on Villa’s FA Cup chances

Unai Emery has downplayed Villa’s chances of winning the FA Cup. Speaking ahead of the Cardiff clash, he said:

“It’s a way for a trophy and a way for Europe. The winner plays in the Europa League next year. We have three ways to get into Europe: Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup. We are not contenders in the FA Cup to win this trophy.”

Rashford is hoping to start against Cardiff, having mainly been used as a substitute since his move to Villa Park. A strong performance could boost his chances of securing a permanent transfer this summer.
