Ranking realistic trade destinations for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle…
2. Charlotte Hornets
If the Wolves do decide to part ways with Randle, the Charlotte Hornets don’t have a ton of different options like other teams. Instead, they have a better offer that other teams aren’t able to match.
Time and time again, Minnesota loses close games that they should’ve won due to lack of being able to keep up offensively. For a team that has so much talent, they struggle to score.
Charlotte has a rumored trade target that fits exactly what the Wolves need — a high volume scoring forward in Miles Bridges. He is having a career year, but the Hornets are having a terrible year (3rd worst record in the East) as a team. They’ll be looking to move some pieces and rebuild around star LaMelo Ball.
Randle would be a great fit alongside a distributing point guard like Ball. He would receive many more easy opportunities on a team where the ball is moving a lot more often and not as stagnant as it appears at times in Minnesota. Ball and Anthony Edwards are two completely type of star players. Randle would also help Charlotte spread the floor more than they’ve been able to do with Grant Williams and the other power forwards.
The Hornets would need some future draft capital in a proposed deal. Meanwhile, the Wolves would be fine with Bridges and a point guard to give them another option since both Donte DiVincenzo and Mike Conley have been dealing with injuries. Guards like Vasilije Micic or Seth Curry are great options for Minnesota. This puts them in win-now mode.
While Charlotte is a fantastic option to best utilize Randle’s abilities, there is one team that has a better shot to trade for him, and would have the best opportunity for him to shine — the Washington Wizards.
